High Wycombe & Bicester | Full Time | Monday–Friday | Fixed-Term Contract

We're looking for an experienced SHEQ Manager to join Origin on a fixed-term basis, providing maternity cover within our Safety, Health, Environment and Quality function.

This is a hands-on management role with responsibility for keeping our SHEQ activity moving across our manufacturing and operational sites. You'll work closely with managers, operational teams and senior leaders to maintain compliance, manage risk and ensure our established management systems and improvement programmes continue to deliver.

It's a varied role, so we're looking for someone who can get up to speed quickly, build strong relationships and confidently take ownership.

What you'll be doing

You'll take day-to-day responsibility for our SHEQ function, including:

  • Leading and supporting the SHEQ team across our sites
  • Maintaining our Integrated Management System and ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards
  • Managing internal audits, supporting external certification audits and overseeing corrective actions
  • Monitoring SHEQ performance, identifying trends and providing clear reporting to senior management
  • Supporting operational risk assessments, COSHH, Safe Systems of Work and incident investigations
  • Overseeing key compliance programmes including statutory inspections, fire safety, emergency preparedness and Legionella control
  • Managing SHEQ training requirements and working with managers and HR to maintain competency and compliance
  • Overseeing our Assure SHEQ management system and ensuring actions, documentation and workflows remain effective
  • Monitoring environmental performance and supporting sustainability and regulatory reporting, including SECR, EPR and Wastepack
  • Working with operational teams to identify quality issues, improve processes and drive continuous improvement

What we're looking for

You'll need practical SHEQ experience within a manufacturing or operational environment and the confidence to manage a broad remit with a good degree of autonomy.

You'll ideally bring:

  • An IOSH qualification or equivalent
  • Strong working knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001
  • Experience managing audits, non-conformities and corrective actions
  • Practical experience of risk management and incident investigation
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build credible relationships at all levels
  • Good analytical skills, with the ability to turn performance data into meaningful actions
  • Experience managing or supporting a SHEQ team

An Internal Auditor qualification, IEMA/environmental qualification and experience with SHEQ management systems such as Assure would be advantageous, as would experience of environmental and sustainability reporting.
