Role Description
The SHEQ Manager is a full-time, on-site position based in Bishop's Waltham, responsible for overseeing Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality across all operational activities. Day-to-day tasks include:
- Developing and maintaining SHEQ policies and procedures
- Conducting site inspections and audits
- Ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and company standards
- Leading incident and accident investigations, identifying root causes, and implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence
- Delivering training and coaching to staff on health, safety, environmental, and quality practices
- Monitoring performance through KPIs
- Preparing reports and recommendations for senior management
- Collaborating with operational teams, clients, and regulatory bodies to continuously improve SHEQ performance and promote a strong safety culture

Qualifications

- Demonstrated experience in Health & Safety and Occupational Health, with the ability to manage SHEQ systems across multiple sites
- Knowledge of Environment Health and Safety (EHS) principles, including environmental risk assessment and compliance with relevant regulations
- Proficiency in accident and incident investigation, including root cause analysis and implementation of corrective and preventive actions
- Experience designing and delivering training on safety, health, environmental, and quality topics to varied audiences
- Relevant professional qualifications such as NEBOSH General Certificate, IOSH, or equivalent SHEQ-related certification
- Strong understanding of UK health, safety, and environmental legislation, ideally within traffic management, construction, or civil engineering sectors
- Excellent communication, report-writing, and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence and drive cultural change
- Proven organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritise and manage multiple projects and deadlines
- Competence in using standard office software and SHEQ management tools for documentation, analysis, and reporting
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to visit operational sites as required
- Supporting the company with maintaining its current ISO 9001:2015 certification and moving into ISO 9001:2026
- An understanding of the industry that we working in
- Knowledge of national Highway sector scheme 12 ABCD would be advantageous
