About The Role
SHIELD is a psychological coaching service that provides Psychology students with applied, work-based experience embedded within their degree, while widening access to support for young people at risk of disengaging from education.
As SHIELD Administrator, you will play a vital role in the smooth day-to-day running of the SHIELD clinic. This is a varied, people-focused role offering a range of responsibilities. You will,
- Oversee key administrative processes, including managing diaries to organise training, onboarding Psychology students, managing referrals using a range of software in accordance with GDPR legislation and supporting SHIELD supervisors during the service's operational hours,
- Work closely with the SHIELD Manager, and liaise with partner schools to ensure all paperwork and information are in place ahead of delivery, ensuring sessions run efficiently and effectively,
- Act as a key point of contact for SHIELD, maintaining strong relationships with students, staff, and external partners, and ensuring clear communication across the service,
- Support the collection and analysis of data, contributing to reports that demonstrate SHIELD’s impact to a wide range of stakeholders, helping to inform ongoing service improvement.
This role would suit someone who is highly organised and enjoys working with people. You will be a calm and professional presence, able to manage competing priorities, communicate clearly, and provide effective support in a busy environment. If you are a strong listener, problem-solver, and motivated by making a real difference, you will thrive in this role. The role requires working during SHIELD’s core service hours of 11am–3pm, with a suggested working pattern of 11AM–3:30PM on Monday to Thursday and 11AM–3PM on Friday. We will still consider applications even if you don't meet every single one of the requirements, so don't be put off if you don't match them perfectly. An enhanced DBS certificate is essential for this role.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
