We're delighted to be partnering with a well-established manufacturing business to recruit a Shift Engineer to join their Engineering team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a multi-skilled engineer who enjoys working in a fast-paced production environment and takes pride in keeping machinery, equipment and facilities operating at peak performance.
Working closely with the Head of Engineering and Production teams, you'll play a key role in maintaining plant reliability, reducing downtime and supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the site.
Responsibilities
As a Shift Engineer, you'll be responsible for both reactive and preventative maintenance activities, ensuring production equipment remains safe, reliable and efficient. Key responsibilities include:
- Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) activities across site
- Diagnosing and repairing electrical and mechanical faults
- Responding to equipment breakdowns and minimising production downtime
- Conducting routine machinery inspections and maintenance checks
- Supporting continuous improvement initiatives to improve plant reliability and performance
- Working closely with production teams to coordinate maintenance activities effectively
- Maintaining accurate maintenance records and documentation
- Supporting health, safety and environmental compliance across the site
- Assisting with risk assessments, permits to work and safe systems of work
- Ensuring all engineering activities are completed safely and in accordance with company procedures
- Supporting training and development of colleagues where required
- Participating in call-out and additional shift cover when necessary

Requirements
We're looking for a proactive engineer who enjoys problem-solving and thrives in a manufacturing environment. You'll ideally have:
- Previous experience in a Maintenance Engineer, Shift Engineer, Multi-Skilled Engineer or Manufacturing Engineer role
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills
- Experience maintaining production machinery and plant equipment
- A good understanding of both electrical and mechanical systems
- Knowledge of preventative maintenance programmes
- Strong awareness of health and safety procedures
- The ability to prioritise workload and respond effectively under pressure
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Desirable Experience
- Manufacturing or production environment experience
- FMCG, Food Manufacturing, Packaging, Industrial or Process Manufacturing background
- Electrical qualifications (18th Edition, NVQ, City & Guilds or equivalent)
- Mechanical maintenance experience
- Experience using maintenance management systems (CMMS)
