About Andaz London Liverpool Street

The hotel features 267 guestrooms and suites along with a collection of distinctive food and beverage experiences including a brasserie, café bar, wine lounge, gastropub and Japanese restaurant, creating a diverse and fast paced environment for colleagues. Andaz also offers 14 unique meeting and event spaces including the historic 1901 Ballroom and the Masonic Temple, both rich in character and heritage.

Duties and responsibilities related to the Shift Engineer role

  • Provide a courteous and professional service at all times
  • Handle guest and employee enquiries in an efficient manner, providing a prompt follow-up and reporting or handing over to the next shift engineer unresolved problems if no immediate solution can be found
  • Record consumption of gas, water and electricity on a daily basis and try to conserve energy without reducing or suppressing the comfort of the customer
  • Be flexible throughout the working day, so as to meet demands from the guest
  • Work closely with other employees in a supportive and flexible manner, focusing on the overall success of the hotel and the satisfaction of hotel guests
  • Perform basic electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting and preventive maintenance work orders
  • Monitor and make requests to your manager for the purchase of parts and consumables
  • Ensure cleanliness of all work areas and protect the walls and floors when work is being carried out
  • Ensure effective energy conservation is always observed
  • Ensure fire, life and safety systems are operational
  • Perform emergency procedures relating to fire, life and safety; tending to fire alarms, lift rescue
  • Ensure timely completion of work orders and preventive maintenance tasks (PPM’s)
  • Report any abnormal conditions noticed at any time in line with safety related equipment to your manager
  • Assist other Engineers when required and work as a team
  • Diagnose malfunctions in systems and components and rectify defects
  • Recognize and identify areas of hazard that require to be reported to your manager
  • Use and maintain a variety of power tools and testing equipment

About you

We are looking for a skilled and proactive Shift Engineer with a strong commitment to maintaining high operational standards and supporting exceptional guest experiences. Previous experience in a similar engineering or maintenance role within hospitality is highly advantageous, with hotel or resort experience considered a strong asset.

A hands-on approach, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently during shifts are essential. You will be highly organised, detail-oriented, and capable of prioritising tasks in a fast-paced environment, while maintaining a professional and service-focused attitude when interacting with guests and colleagues.
