Job Opportunity

Hexcel is currently seeking a Shift Engineer for our Duxford, UK location.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support maintenance activities across the site to improve plant performance and reliability.
  • Carry out fault finding, repairs and implement root cause corrective actions.
  • Develop, execute and maintain planned preventative maintenance (PPM) schedules.
  • Support projects and process improvement initiatives to enhance safety and production efficiency.
  • Respond to mechanical and electrical breakdowns to minimise downtime and restore production.
  • Interpret mechanical drawings, electrical schematics and equipment manuals.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot PLC and drive-related issues.
  • Liaise with suppliers, OEMs and contractors to support equipment improvements and maintenance activities.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and provide daily reports to management and stakeholders.
  • Train production personnel in basic maintenance activities and machine set-up procedures.

Qualifications

  • Level 3 NVQ Diploma or HNC in Electrotechnical Services (Electrical Maintenance) or equivalent.
  • BS7671 18th Edition qualification.
  • Level 3 NVQ Diploma or HNC in Mechanical Engineering Maintenance.
  • Completed recognised engineering apprenticeship.
  • Minimum five years' experience as an electrically biased maintenance engineer within a manufacturing or process environment.
  • Knowledge and experience of PLCs and variable speed drives (desirable).
  • ATEX, DSEAR and COMPEX training or awareness (desirable).
  • Familiarity with health and safety regulations; IOSH qualification desirable.
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong troubleshooting, communication, organisational and time management skills, with a self-motivated and proactive approach.
