Automotive Shift Leader

Department: Vehicle Manufacturing/FA3

Location: OEM Site Solihull, based on-site

Job Type: Permanent Position

Shifts: 3 Shift Rotation

Pay: £14.50-£16.00 per hour

We are looking for an experienced/highly motivated/keen Shift Leader to work with one of our prestigious vehicle manufacturers.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise on-shift Team Leaders
  • Ensure successful coordination, organization, and execution of quality containment and rework projects to protect the OEM’s production
  • Ensure only OK parts are passed to or accepted on-line ensuring no disruption is caused to the customer's build
  • Complete inductions for new employees on-site
  • Ensure the team on shift are trained to applicable quality inspection and rework standards including the use of and application of e-Apps (Formel D’s Electronic Data Management System)
  • Open & close containments in e-Apps
  • Gather data for input into plant reports including end of shift report and JLR specific documents
  • Update and maintain shift planner and confirm manning requirements
  • Conduct random checks and layered audits to ensure process adherence and to ensure compliance with test results and quality standards
  • Ensure start-up and zone conformance audits are conducted daily as per required frequency
  • Ensure Team leaders Coordinate quality control, rework, and/or logistics
  • Ensure a smooth flow of materials is delivered by the Team Leaders
  • Ensure max/min PPE levels are maintained on-site
  • Deliver each project on-time, as budgeted, and within scope by the team
  • Inspect and rework parts when required
  • Ensure ‘E QCC’ is used for data capture for all inspection and rework projects
  • Liaise directly with the OEM and Customers / Suppliers (internal and external) as necessary
  • Attend specific daily/weekly meetings as required
  • Support investigation and resolution of customer complaints
  • Ensure Timesheets are accurately delivered 100% on-time
  • Be an advocate to ensure unnecessary waste is kept to a minimum
  • Track inefficiencies on shift and take appropriate actions to reduce to a minimum

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational certification in automotive-related fields is a plus.
  • Previous experience in the automotive industry or a related field.
  • Previous experience in a supervisory position.
  • Solid understanding of automotive production processes, quality standards, and inspection techniques.
  • Proficiency in using various inspection tools, equipment, and measuring instruments.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify defects and non-conformities.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with the client's cross-functional teams.
  • Knowledge of relevant regulations, industry standards, and quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001) is advantageous.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines.
  • Flexibility to work in shifts and overtime as needed.

Work Schedule

  • 3 Week Shift Rotation
    • AM: 06:00-13:30
    • PM: 13:30-21:00
    • Nights: 21:00-06:00
  • Weekend availability
