Shift Leader - Critical Facilities / Data Centre

We are currently seeking an experienced Shift Leader to join a critical Data Centre environment, responsible for leading the engineering shift team and ensuring the safe, reliable and efficient operation of all critical M&E infrastructure.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Data Centre Engineer / Shift Leader / Lead Engineer with strong electrical knowledge and HV experience looking to take the next step in their career.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate the shift engineering team across a critical Data Centre environment
  • Take responsibility for the safe and reliable operation of critical M&E infrastructure
  • Carry out and oversee planned and reactive maintenance activities
  • Lead fault finding, incident response and escalation of critical engineering issues
  • Conduct and oversee HV/LV switching and isolation in accordance with site procedures
  • Manage and review PTW, RAMS, LOTO and safe systems of work
  • Monitor BMS and critical infrastructure systems
  • Support maintenance of HV/LV distribution, UPS, generators, switchgear, transformers, cooling and HVAC systems
  • Coordinate contractors and specialist engineering vendors
  • Ensure compliance with operational, H&S and site procedures
  • Maintain accurate shift logs, handovers and engineering records
  • Act as the senior engineering presence during the shift

Essential Experience

  • Previous experience within a Data Centre, Critical Environment or similarly mission-critical facility
  • Strong electrical maintenance background
  • HV Authorised Person (HVAP) / HV switching experience
  • Experience leading or supervising engineering teams
  • Strong knowledge of HV/LV electrical distribution and critical power systems
  • Experience with UPS, generators, switchgear and associated critical infrastructure
  • Good understanding of PTW, RAMS, LOTO and safe isolation procedures
  • Comfortable responding to critical incidents and working under pressure
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills

Desirable

  • Electrical / Mechanical engineering qualification
  • BMS/SCADA experience
  • Experience working on large-scale Data Centre facilities
  • Experience managing contractors and third-party vendors
  • Previous experience operating within 24/7 critical environments
