Shift Pattern: Continental (4on/4off), 12-hour shifts, days & nights
Reporting to: Maintenance Manager
Start date: Immediate
Are you an experienced manufacturing and maintenance professional eager to make an impact at a fast-growing, industry-leading company? Hold a level 3 diploma in electrical installations or equivalent and ideally qualified in 17th/18th electrical regulations?
Whether you are an experienced multi-skilled Maintenance Engineer with an electrical bias or recently qualified as an apprentice or equivalent training then this role could be for you!
As a Shift Maintenance Engineer at A-SAFE, you’ll play a key role in keeping our manufacturing operation safe, reliable and productive. Working as part of the Maintenance team, you’ll deliver planned and reactive maintenance, respond to breakdowns and help reduce downtime across the site.
This is a practical, varied role for an engineer with both electrical and mechanical capability. You’ll work closely with Maintenance colleagues, Operations and Production teams, as well as external contractors, to optimise equipment performance and support smooth day-to-day plant operations.
Alongside fault-finding and repairs, you’ll complete planned preventive maintenance, record work accurately through our maintenance system and contribute ideas that improve equipment, processes and operational efficiency.
How you will make an impact:
- Carry out planned and reactive maintenance across manufacturing equipment and facilities, completing work safely and to a high standard.
- Respond quickly to production breakdowns, diagnose faults and restore equipment safely to minimise downtime.
- Complete the planned preventive maintenance schedule and close work orders accurately on the computerised maintenance management system.
- Apply both electrical and mechanical knowledge when fault-finding, repairing and maintaining plant and equipment.
- Complete daily and weekly compliance checks and make sure maintenance activity meets health and safety requirements.
- Support equipment improvements and continuous improvement activity that enhances reliability, efficiency and plant performance.
- Assist with the installation and commissioning of new equipment.
- Carry out maintenance activity at height within our automated warehouse, following the required safe systems of work. Full training will be provided for this element of the role.
- Work collaboratively with the Maintenance, Operations and Production teams to resolve issues and keep the plant running smoothly.
- Coordinate effectively with external contractors when specialist support is required.
- Maintain accurate records and communicate maintenance issues, completed work and outstanding actions clearly to colleagues and managers.
- Follow company policies, procedures and safe systems of work, with safety at the centre of every task.

What we are looking for:
- A multi-skilled maintenance engineer with both electrical and mechanical capability.
- A Level 3 Diploma in Electrical Installations, or an equivalent qualification.
- Previous maintenance experience within a manufacturing environment. Experience in plastics manufacturing would be an advantage, but is not essential.
- Apprentice-trained engineering experience, or equivalent practical training.
- Confidence carrying out fault-finding, repairs and planned maintenance in a working production environment.
- A sound understanding of safe maintenance practice and the discipline to follow procedures and safe systems of work.
- The willingness and confidence to work at height following appropriate training and safety controls.
- The flexibility to work a continental shift pattern of four days on and four days off, including days and nights.
- Good verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical information clearly.
- Reliability, strong timekeeping and the ability to produce quality work with a right-first-time mindset.
You’ll also bring:
- A proactive, practical approach and the drive to investigate problems rather than wait for direction.
- The ability to stay composed, organised and effective when responding to breakdowns or working under pressure.
- A collaborative attitude and the confidence to work with colleagues across Maintenance, Production and Operations.
- Resourcefulness, flexibility and adaptability when priorities or production requirements change.
- An interest in continuous improvement and identifying sensible ways to improve equipment reliability and performance.
- Ideally, a 17th or 18th Edition qualification in the IET Wiring Regulations.
