Shift Manager – Logistics & Operations
London, Birmingham, Nottingham
5 days onsite
Rotational day & night shifts
Lead High-Volume Operations. Shape a Growing Logistics Network.
We have partnered with a fast-growing logistics technology business, backed by a $35M Series A, combining logistics operations, technology, data, and AI to build a more efficient delivery network. They are looking for experienced Shift Managers, Operations Managers, Warehouse Managers, and Logistics Managers to join their growing operations teams across London, Birmingham, and Nottingham.
This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll take ownership of shift performance, lead operational teams, and use data and KPIs to identify problems and improve productivity. You'll be working in a fast-paced, high-volume sortation environment where decisions need to be made quickly and where your leadership can have a direct impact on the operation.

What You'll Do
- Take ownership of the day-to-day performance of your shift, KPIs, ensuring productivity, quality, and service targets are achieved.
- Lead, motivate, and develop operational teams, creating a strong culture of accountability and performance.
- Manage workforce allocation, ensuring the right people and resources are in the right areas at the right time.
- Monitor KPIs, productivity, quality, service levels, and operational data to identify issues and opportunities.
- Investigate underperformance and put clear improvement plans in place.
- Coach, develop, and manage underperforming employees where required.
- Identify operational inefficiencies and implement practical improvements to increase productivity and service.
- Work closely with site leadership and wider stakeholders to resolve operational challenges.
- Support recruitment, onboarding, and training of new team members.
- Maintain high standards of Health & Safety, compliance, and operational discipline.

What We're Looking For
- Previous experience as a Shift Manager, Operations Manager, Warehouse Manager, or Logistics Manager.
- Strong experience leading and developing operational teams.
- Experience within high-volume parcel, courier, warehouse, distribution, or sortation environments.
- Experience managing KPIs, productivity, service levels, and operational performance.
- Proven ability to identify performance issues and deliver measurable improvements.
- Comfortable managing underperformers and having difficult performance conversations.
- Strong workforce planning and people allocation experience.
- Data-driven and comfortable using operational data to make decisions.
- Hands-on leadership style with the ability to get involved when required.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
- Flexibility to work rotational day and night shifts.

Backgrounds That Could Be Relevant
We'd be particularly interested in people who have worked within Amazon, DHL, DPD, UPS, Evri, FedEx, Royal Mail, Yodel, GXO, Wincanton, Ocado, or similar high-volume logistics and distribution environments. Experience managing large operational teams, high parcel volumes, peak periods, and fast-paced shift environments would be particularly relevant.
