Shift Manager - Night Shift (2pm - 10pm) - Nuneaton

At PROPER SNACKS, the Operations team are the heart of our manufacturing facility, bringing our amazing products to life and getting them into the hands of our snackers. The Person

The Role

Reporting to the Manufacturing Manager, this role will be accountable for Safety, Quality, Delivery & Cost performance on their shifts by managing, motivating and developing both permanent and temporary operatives (known as our Movers & Makers).

  • People leadership and management is fundamental to the success of this role
  • Guiding and developing your teams on a daily basis whilst planning for the future
  • Promoting the effective use of available data through our system, Redzone, using this to constantly improve performance

Responsibilities

  • Manage, motivate and develop a team of Movers & Makers, creating a culture of Safety, Quality & Delivery through high performance and teamwork.
  • Oversee day-to-day production activities, ensuring adherence to plan and financial, quality and safety standards.
  • Drive a culture of improvement and ensure variances to plan are investigated and improvement plans implemented.
  • Work with other departments and leaders to ensure that projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Recruit, onboard and train new hires on company values, policies and procedures to ensure they thrive in their new role.
  • Champion the growth and development of every team member, coaching individuals and training groups.
  • Provide clear, ongoing feedback to ensure expectations on performance and behaviours are clear. Identify and manage potential issues fairly and confidently.
  • Adapt to the fast-paced manufacturing environment by implementing and modifying work plans according to business needs whilst promoting the health, safety and wellbeing of team members.
  • Promote the effective use of Redzone, ensuring regular communication huddles take place to drive performance and inspire best practice.

Requirements

  • Proven experience leading in a food manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety regulations and quality management systems.
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and inspire a diverse team.
  • Proven ability to drive continuous improvement initiatives and achieve operational excellence.
  • Proficiency in using Redzone and other relevant tools is a plus but not essential.
