Are you ready to work on one of London's most exciting tech accounts?
We don’t just manage buildings, we keep them alive. As a Shift Mechanical Engineer at CBRE, you won’t just be ticking boxes. You will be the technical backbone of our plant and building services, trusted to run both planned (PPM) and reactive mechanical maintenance autonomously.
If you are a self-starting mechanical specialist who thrives on troubleshooting complex HVAC, plumbing, and fluid systems, and takes pride in delivering flawless building services, we want you on our team.
About The Role
- Carry out planned and reactive mechanical maintenance tasks across critical building services
- Ensure all mechanical equipment, plant rooms, and services are 100% operational, compliant, and ready for action post-maintenance.
- Champion a world-class safety culture. You'll conduct personal risk assessments, work strictly within CBRE QHSE procedures, and utilise our permit-to-work systems.
- You’ll tackle reactive mechanical requests head-on, ensuring swift resolution and closure in line with our service level agreements.
- Act as the main point of contact, supporting and supervising specialised mechanical subcontractors while they are on-site.
- Identify the components and materials needed for a fix, source them from suppliers, and collaborate with our technical admin team to get them ordered.
- Spot areas for enhancement during workplace inspections, escalate urgent issues to Engineering Leaders, and assist with installation and modification works when required.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
