Are you a people-focused manufacturing leader who thrives on developing teams, improving performance, and making decisions based on data rather than instinct? Do you enjoy leading through others, coaching frontline leaders, and using operational insights to drive measurable results?
CHEP is looking for a Shift Production Manager; internally, this role is referred to as ‘Operations Supervisor Band 2’, to lead one of our manufacturing shifts at our Pontefract site. Reporting to the Operations Lead, this is a key leadership role responsible for developing Operations Supervisors, leading frontline teams, and driving operational excellence in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

You'll play a critical role in developing leadership capability across the shift, creating a positive and accountable culture, and driving continuous improvement initiatives that support the site's long-term operational strategy.
If you're motivated by leading people, solving problems, and turning operational data into meaningful action, we'd love to hear from you.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
