KeolisAmey Docklands (KAD) Operates the Iconic Docklands Light Railway (DLR)

KeolisAmey Docklands (KAD) operates the iconic Docklands Light Railway (DLR) — a fully automated light-rail network serving East London. As part of the Transport for London (TfL) family, we play a vital role in keeping London moving safely, reliably, and sustainably.

We are proud of our people, our safety culture, and our commitment to continuous improvement. We are now looking for a Shift Production Manager for Night Shifts Only to join our Rolling Stock team at Beckton Depot and play a key role in maintaining the reliability of our fleet.

The Role

As Shift Production Manager, you will lead a team of Advanced Train Maintainers and Train Maintainers, taking responsibility for the safe, efficient maintenance, modification, and release of DLR rolling stock into service.

This is a safety-critical leadership role, requiring strong technical understanding, confident decision-making, and the ability to manage people and production activity in a fast-paced depot environment.

You will oversee daily production activity, ensure compliance with maintenance standards, and act as a key deputy to the Depot Manager when required.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead and manage rolling stock maintenance activities to ensure trains are safe, compliant, and ready for service
  • Inspect and review completed maintenance work and authorise the release of trains into operational service
  • Prioritise workload across shifts to minimise failures and deliver planned preventative maintenance on time
  • Maintain a safe working environment and oversee depot facilities, test track and wheel lathe operations
  • Chair daily production meetings and coordinate activity with asset and engineering leads
  • Deputise for the Depot Manager as required, ensuring continuity of leadership
  • Ensure accurate use of the Maximo asset management system and robust record keeping
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of 16 maintainers, supporting apprenticeships and ongoing competence development
  • Identify training needs, manage performance, and support disciplinary processes in line with company policy
  • Drive continuous improvement through Lean maintenance and 5S methodologies

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
