Shift Quality Control Technician at Yara

About the Unit

We are part of the global company Yara International ASA and a leader in the product development, manufacture, and marketing of speciality nutrients & biostimulant products for regenerative agriculture worldwide.

We are seeking a Shift Quality Control Technician to support Operations in manufacturing high-quality products that will be exported around the world.

This role involves shift work to align with production patterns during the year. You will initially be based in Pocklington and later transfer to the new >£100 million production site in Howden in 2026.

Responsibilities

  • Analyse product samples using approved methods and procedures within the company's ISO 9001 quality system and Integrated Management System.
  • Identify where analyses are compliant with approved specifications.
  • Test incoming raw materials to ensure compliance with approved supplier specifications.
  • Record results and maintain laboratory records and databases.
  • Update and maintain daily dispatch records based on approved analysis.
  • Carry out calibration of laboratory equipment in line with laboratory procedures.
  • Perform quality checks within the production area.
  • Report and take appropriate corrective actions on non-conformances and quality incidents.
  • Prepare and dispatch product samples for customer evaluation.
  • Support plant operations and trials as necessary.

Requirements (Profile)

The ideal candidate should:

  • Hold a HNC or equivalent in Chemistry and/or have 2 years’ experience in a laboratory environment.
  • Have a strong understanding of classical and instrumental analytical chemistry.
  • Demonstrate a high level of safety awareness and knowledge of relevant regulations.
  • Understand Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) and laboratory working regulations, such as UKAS.
  • Possess excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Exhibit strong communication skills.
