YOUR ROLE
Our Ground & Rail operation in Daventry is looking for a Shift Supervisor to join the team! You’ll lead the day-to-day warehouse operation, keeping things safe, compliant and running smoothly.
This is a Sunday to Thursday shift, 22:00 - 06:30.
WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO?
- Lead and support a small team of Warehouse Operatives, keeping the team motivated, engaged and focused on delivering daily targets.
- Take ownership of the day-to-day warehouse operation, ensuring activities are completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
- Promote a strong safety culture, ensuring all Health & Safety procedures are followed, and the warehouse remains safe, clean and compliant.
- Plan and allocate people and resources effectively to meet daily workloads, operational targets and customer requirements.
- Monitor team performance and key operational KPIs, addressing issues promptly and providing support to keep performance on track.
- Deliver clear shift briefings, provide coaching and guidance, and support team members to develop and perform at their best.
- Identify and implement opportunities to improve safety, quality, productivity and customer service across the operation.
- Support stock control activities, including cycle counts and investigating and resolving inventory discrepancies.
- Contribute to Lean and continuous improvement initiatives, using problem-solving and root-cause analysis to improve processes and drive more efficient ways of working.

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
Our ideal candidate will have previous experience leading or supervising a team within a warehouse, logistics or distribution environment. You will have a good understanding of warehouse processes, stock control, Health & Safety and operational KPIs. You will be organised and hands-on, with the ability to plan workloads, manage priorities and keep your team focused on delivering a safe, efficient and high-quality service. You will also be comfortable getting involved in the day-to-day operation and supporting your team on the warehouse floor when required.
You will also be a confident communicator and natural problem-solver, able to coach and support your team while addressing challenges quickly and effectively. Experience using a Warehouse Management System and Microsoft Office is important, while knowledge of Lean, continuous improvement, MHE or a transport-linked operation would be an advantage. Most importantly, you will bring a proactive approach, a strong team ethic and a genuine drive to improve how the operation works.
