Shift Team Leader

Salary – Competitive package plus benefits
Hours – Rotating 24-hour shift pattern including days, nights, weekends and public holidays
Location & Postcode – EnviRecover, Worcestershire, DY10 4JD

As a Shift Team Leader at FCC Environment, you will supervise and provide direction to the operational shift team, ensuring the safe, compliant and efficient operation of the Energy from Waste facility. You will act as a Senior Authorised Person, lead operational activities, respond to emergency situations and support continuous plant performance and reliability. This role also carries delegated management responsibility outside normal office hours.

This vacancy is for a full-time position, working a rotating shift pattern across days and nights.

What will you be doing?

  • Supervising and leading an operational shift team
  • Acting as Senior Authorised Person and ensuring the correct application of site safety rules
  • Managing emergency situations and coordinating with stakeholders and emergency services
  • Ensuring the facility operates in compliance with environmental permits, planning conditions, warranties and design criteria
  • Supporting and maintaining high standards of safety and housekeeping across the site
  • Managing facility inputs and outputs to ensure they are processed correctly and efficiently
  • Ensuring only suitable waste is accepted and processed
  • Conducting performance appraisals and providing coaching and guidance to team members
  • Producing incident reports, shift logs and operational reports
  • Maximising plant availability, efficiency and reliability
  • Completing effective shift handovers at the beginning and end of each shift
  • Promoting operational competency and continuous improvement within the shift team

What are we looking for?

  • Extensive and demonstrable operational experience within the power generation sector
  • Experience working in demanding and fast-paced operational environments
  • Knowledge of environmental permits, health and safety legislation, safety rules and outage management
  • Strong leadership and people management skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively at all levels
  • A highly motivated, results-driven approach
  • The ability to remain calm and provide consistent leadership in challenging situations
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Computer literacy and confidence using IT systems
  • The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • Commitment to personal development and continuous improvement
