Shift Team Leader

Location: Beckton

Job Length: Permanent

Working Hours: 39 hours per week (Monday to Thursday – 8 hour shift, Friday – 7 hour shift)

About The Role

As a Shift Team Leader at our Beckton site, you will lead your team to safely manufacture, package and distribute iconic brands including Pepsi, 7UP, Tango and R White's, ensuring delivery of production plans through the effective operation of people, equipment and processes. You will be accountable for safety, quality and performance within your area, while driving a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.

We're looking for a strong people leader who can inspire, motivate and develop colleagues, creating a highly engaged team environment and leading by example to deliver outstanding results.

Role Responsibilities

  • Lead and promote a strong safety culture, ensuring compliance with all Health, Safety and Environmental standards and maintaining an audit-ready operation.
  • Drive exceptional quality standards through a Right First Time approach, ensuring GMP requirements and customer expectations are consistently met.
  • Deliver production plans safely and efficiently, achieving KPIs across safety, quality, cost, delivery and people measures.
  • Monitor and improve operational performance, including OEE, reliability, yield and SKU attainment, through data-driven decision making.
  • Actively identify, investigate and resolve operational issues, promoting a "See it, Own it, Solve it" culture across the team.
  • Drive continuous improvement and waste reduction initiatives, supporting sustainability objectives and delivering cost efficiencies.
  • Lead daily performance communications, team briefings and Production Management System (PMS) meetings to ensure clear alignment and accountability.
  • Effectively manage labour, materials and resources to maximise productivity while controlling operational costs.
  • Build, coach and develop a high-performing team through clear objectives, regular feedback, succession planning and tailored development programmes.
  • Manage performance, attendance and conduct in line with company policies, while recognising and rewarding success.
  • Foster an inclusive, engaged and accountable team culture where colleagues are empowered to take ownership, develop their skills and achieve their full potential.

Experience And Key Attributes

  • Practical experience working within a fast-paced manufacturing, production or FMCG environment is desirable.
  • Previous experience leading, coaching or developing teams, with the ability to motivate colleagues and drive high performance.
  • Good understanding of manufacturing processes, Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) requirements, and industry best practices.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic operational environment while maintaining focus on safety, quality and delivery.
  • Experience using performance data and KPIs to identify opportunities, solve problems and deliver continuous improvement.
  • Strong communication and organisation skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders and lead effective team briefings.
  • Competent in the use of digital systems and Microsoft Office applications, with confidence using production, performance and training systems.
  • A proactive, solutions-focused approach with the ability to take ownership, challenge standards and drive operational excellence.
