Package: up to to £53k + £6k shift allowance
We’re recruiting a Shift Team Leader for an operational energy facility in Forth, South Lanarkshire. You’ll lead plant and fuel-handling operations on shift, making sure the facility runs safely, reliably and within its environmental permit.
This role suits an experienced Shift Team Leader or a strong Control Room Operator ready to take responsibility for a team. You’ll need practical experience operating mechanical processes through DCS, HMI or SCADA, alongside the confidence to work on the plant floor and respond to issues as they arise.
What you’ll do
- Start, stop and monitor turbines, boilers, pumps, water treatment and other plant systems using DCS.
- Lead the shift team and guide Process Operators through plant rounds, equipment checks and adjustments.
- Monitor plant conditions and Continuous Emissions Monitoring Systems (CEMS), ensuring compliance with environmental permit conditions.
- Respond to process stoppages, coordinate minor reactive maintenance and raise work on the maintenance system.
- Supervise boiler, cooling and other plant water testing and treatment.
- Keep accurate shift logs, performance records and handovers.
- Provide technical direction to company staff and contractors on shift.
- Improve standard operating procedures while maintaining site health, safety, environmental and quality standards.
- Coach and develop the shift team, providing cover for other Shift Team Leaders when required.

What we’re looking for
You’ll have operational experience in power generation, steam raising or a comparable process plant, including both control room and plant-floor work. Experience using DCS, HMI or SCADA is essential.

You’ll also bring a logical approach to fault finding, good communication and basic IT skills for shift reporting. Practical mechanical skills, including minor adjustments or repairs, will be useful. A relevant HNC, NVQ or equivalent engineering qualification is preferred, although demonstrable time-served experience will also be considered.
Experience developing a team would be a distinct advantage. IOSH, NEBOSH, BOAS and Electrical AP or SAP experience are welcome but are not essential; health and safety training can be provided.
