Shift Technician - Critical Facilities / Data Centre

We are currently seeking an experienced Shift Technician to join a critical Data Centre environment, supporting the safe, reliable and efficient operation of critical M&E infrastructure.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced Data Centre Technician, Critical Facilities Technician, Shift Engineer or Maintenance Engineer looking to develop their career within a mission-critical environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned and reactive maintenance across a critical Data Centre
  • Monitor and operate critical M&E infrastructure
  • Respond quickly and effectively to equipment faults and alarms
  • Conduct fault finding and support incident resolution
  • Carry out routine inspections and plant room checks
  • Support maintenance of HV/LV electrical systems, UPS, generators, switchgear, cooling and HVAC systems
  • Monitor and respond to BMS/SCADA alarms
  • Follow site SOPs, EOPs, RAMS, PTW and LOTO procedures
  • Support contractors and specialist engineering vendors
  • Maintain accurate shift logs, maintenance records and handovers
  • Ensure all work is completed safely and in accordance with site procedures
  • Provide effective communication during shift handovers and critical incidents

Essential Experience

  • Previous experience within a Data Centre, Critical Environment, Industrial, Commercial or similar engineering environment
  • Strong electrical and/or mechanical maintenance background
  • Experience with planned and reactive maintenance
  • Good fault-finding and problem-solving skills
  • Understanding of critical infrastructure and operational procedures
  • Knowledge of UPS, generators, HVAC, cooling systems and electrical distribution is advantageous
  • Comfortable working within a 24/7 shift environment
  • Strong commitment to Health & Safety and safe working practices

Desirable

  • Data Centre / Mission-Critical experience
  • Electrical or Mechanical engineering qualification
  • BMS/SCADA experience
  • UPS and generator experience
  • LV switching experience
  • Experience working with PTW, RAMS, LOTO, SOPs and EOPs
  • HV experience is desirable but not essential
