Shift Technician - Data Centre | Docklands, London
I’m currently working with a leading global facilities management organisation who are looking for experienced Shift Technicians to join a critical Data Centre environment in London Docklands.
This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with a strong electrical or mechanical background looking to build or further develop their career within a highly critical, technically advanced facility.
The Role
As a Shift Technician, you will be responsible for the safe and reliable operation, maintenance and monitoring of critical infrastructure across the Data Centre.
Responsibilities:
- Carrying out planned and reactive maintenance across critical infrastructure
- Monitoring and operating LV/HV electrical systems
- Working with UPS systems, generators, switchgear and electrical distribution
- Supporting HVAC, cooling and mechanical systems
- Responding to alarms, faults and breakdowns
- Completing PPM and corrective maintenance activities
- Following SOPs, EOPs, RAMS and Permit-to-Work procedures
- Supporting incident response and escalation
- Maintaining accurate site documentation and engineering records
- Working closely with the wider engineering and operations team
- Ensuring all work is completed in line with strict health & safety and compliance standards

About You

We’re interested in speaking with engineers who have:
- Previous experience within a Data Centre, Critical Environment, Commercial Building, Industrial or Manufacturing environment
- Strong electrical and/or mechanical maintenance experience
- Experience working with critical infrastructure such as UPS, generators, BMS, HVAC or switchgear
- Relevant engineering qualifications (City & Guilds, NVQ, HNC/HND or equivalent)
- Experience working within a 24/7 operational environment is highly desirable
- A strong understanding of health & safety, RAMS and Permit-to-Work processes
- Excellent fault-finding and problem-solving skills
