About The Role
Join OCS as a Shift Technician, supporting our contract with a leading broadcasting and media organisation. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a fast-paced, professional environment, helping to maintain the facilities and building systems that keep a major broadcasting operation running smoothly.
You’ll play a key role in delivering planned and reactive maintenance across mechanical, electrical and building fabric systems, ensuring the site remains safe, compliant and operational. Working alongside an experienced facilities team, you’ll have the opportunity to apply your technical expertise, take ownership of maintenance activities and contribute to the high standards of service OCS delivers to its client.
At OCS, we recognise that our people are central to our success. We’re looking for a proactive, hands-on technician who takes pride in their work, works well within a team and is committed to delivering a reliable, high-quality service.
If you’re looking for a role where your technical skills make a real difference in a dynamic environment, we’d like to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance across mechanical, electrical and building fabric systems.
- Complete maintenance work orders within agreed contractual timescales, meeting required service level agreements (SLAs) and key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Complete service sheets, maintenance records and site compliance logbooks accurately and promptly.
- Monitor contractors and the quality of their workmanship, ensuring all activities meet required safety and quality standards.
- Support the Site Supervisor in coordinating facilities services, ensuring work is delivered safely, on time, within budget and to the required standard.
- Identify faults, carry out repairs and escalate issues where specialist support is required.
- Contribute to the efficient operation of the contract through effective maintenance, sound decision-making and a customer-focused approach.
- Participate in the site call-out rota, responding to client requirements as necessary.
- Comply with all OCS health, safety, environmental and site-specific procedures.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
