This hands-on role involves carrying out planned preventative maintenance activities in line with the maintenance schedule within our Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS), as well as responding to equipment breakdowns to minimise downtime and maximise operational performance. You will diagnose faults, implement effective repairs, and accurately record all work completed, ensuring any follow-up actions are identified and communicated.

The successful candidate will be proactive in driving continuous improvement, helping to enhance equipment reliability, reduce losses, and support the delivery of our production objectives. Working collaboratively across departments, you will contribute to creating a safe, efficient, and high-performing manufacturing environment.

Main Responsibilities

• Undertake ongoing training and development to enhance your technical skills and knowledge, ensuring you can provide an effective and responsive engineering service to production operations.
• Share knowledge and coach colleagues where required, supporting the development of team capability and ensuring work is completed safely and to the required standards.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to identify root causes of equipment failures and implement sustainable solutions that eliminate repeat issues.
• Contribute to the ongoing enhancement of engineering processes, systems, and practices to maximise equipment reliability, performance, and efficiency.
• Support the achievement of key business performance indicators, including waste reduction, Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), efficiency, machine uptime, and customer service targets.
• Work collaboratively with Production, Quality, Health & Safety, and other site functions to deliver daily, weekly, monthly, and annual operational objectives.
• Promote a positive, proactive, and safety-focused culture by demonstrating professional behaviours, effective communication, and a solutions-oriented approach.
• Accurately record maintenance activities, breakdown repairs, and improvement actions, ensuring clear communication and effective handover between shifts.
• Actively identify opportunities to improve plant performance, reliability, and operational efficiency, supporting the site's continuous improvement agenda.
• Ensure all engineering activities are carried out in compliance with health and safety, food safety, quality, and hygiene standards.

Who We Are Looking For

We're looking for a motivated and proactive engineering professional who is passionate about maintaining and improving manufacturing performance in a fast-paced production environment.

• Ideally qualified to HNC level (or equivalent) or above in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, with a strong understanding of preventative and predictive maintenance, fault finding, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement methodologies.
• Knowledge of Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) principles, including 5S, with a commitment to driving equipment reliability, workplace organisation, and operational excellence.
• Experience using a Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) would be advantageous, although training will be provided for the right candidate.
• Strong numerical and written communication skills, with the ability to work flexibly, manage priorities effectively, and use initiative to solve problems independently.
• A collaborative team player who can build positive working relationships and contribute effectively within a multidisciplinary environment.
• Previous experience within a manufacturing environment is essential. Experience within the food manufacturing sector, along with an understanding of Health & Safety, Food Safety, and Hygiene standards, would be beneficial but is not essential as full training will be provided.
