We are currently recruiting for our busy Shipping Port Agency Dept in Belfast.

Summary of Position
The Ship Agent is responsible for acting as a representative of the ship owner at a port and is the first point of contact for a vessel scheduled to arrive at a port. The Ship Agent is responsible for organising, overseeing and coordinating all aspects of the port call, from making berth arrangements and services ahead of the vessel’s arrival to finalising the accounts and other paperwork after the vessel has sailed. The Ship Agent liaises with the relevant port authorities to ensure they are kept up to date of the ship's movements.

Responsibilities / Principal Duties
- Coordinate pilot, tug, linesman, and make berthing arrangements for vessels
- Coordinate with receivers of cargo to ensure they are ready to accept the ship/cargo
- Coordinate Customs and port paperwork for entrance/clearance of vessels
- Board vessels at marine facilities in the port and surrounding area
- Coordinate any necessary repairs with local services
- Keep ship owners informed of vessels position & local schedule
- Any other duties the management may from time to time deem necessary and reasonably require

Reporting To
Reports directly to the General Manager (Belfast).
Working Hours
The working hours of this position are 09:00hrs to 17:00hrs, Monday to Friday. The Ship Agent will also be expected to work additional hours as dictated by the needs of the Company’s customers and ship schedules. Working hours will include early mornings, late evenings and weekend work.
Location
The primary place of work for this position will be at the Company’s premises at 101 Airport Road West Belfast BT3 9ED, but the Ship Agent will regularly be required to work at other ports in Northern Ireland. The Ship Agent may also be required to work at other locations from time to time as the Company may deem necessary and reasonably require.
