Ships Agency
Join us as a Ships Agent and play a key role in the day-to-day operation of a busy port, where no two days are the same.
This is an opportunity to further develop your career in Ships Agency, build on your existing experience and broaden your knowledge of how vessels, customers, suppliers and port services come together to deliver safe and efficient port calls.
You will help coordinate vessel activity, arrange services, manage documentation, prepare accurate quotes and support invoicing, while keeping customers and stakeholders informed from a vessel’s arrival through to departure.
Your role
As a Ships Agent, you will support the management of vessel port calls from initial planning through to completion. You will act as a key point of contact for ship owners, charterers, operators and vessel Masters, ensuring that the services and information they need are arranged accurately and on time.
Working closely with teams across the port, customers, suppliers and port authorities, you will help ensure vessel calls are safe, efficient and compliant.
The role will include:
- Arranging port services such as pilotage, towage, linesmen and other vessel requirements
- Coordinating crew changes, transport, stores, waste, water and other services
- Liaising with vessel Masters, owners, charterers, terminals, suppliers and port authorities
- Preparing and maintaining accurate vessel and port documentation
- Responding to customer and vessel requests and resolving operational issues
- Keeping customers and stakeholders updated throughout the vessel call
- Supporting port call cost estimates, preparing quotes, maintaining records and supporting invoicing
- Attending vessels and working across the port as required

What you'll bring
We are looking for someone who has:
- Ideally, experience in Ships Agency, or in port operations, marine operations or a related area, with a clear interest in developing in this field
- Good organisation skills and attention to detail
- Clear communication skills and a calm, practical approach
- Confidence using Microsoft Office and willingness to learn new systems
- A team-focused approach
- Flexibility to support a 24/7 port environment, including an on-call rota and out-of-hours working
- Full UK driver’s licence
