Charity Shop Assistant
Contract: Temporary 6-month contract (with the view of making it permanent) 3-month probation period
Hours: 14 hours per week (plus extra hours for annual leave, events, and sickness cover)
Pay Rate: £10.85 to £12.71 per hour (depending on age)
Location: Dorchester
Working Pattern: Includes occasional weekend work throughout the year
About the Role
We are looking for a reliable and enthusiastic Shop Assistant to join our charity team on an initial 6-month temporary basis, with the potential to become a permanent role. You will play a key part in the daily running of our shop, helping us raise vital funds. Because this position involves lone working, keyholding, and being responsible for opening and closing the premises, applicants must be 18 years or older.

Key Responsibilities
- Shop Operations: Opening the shop, cashing up the till and closing securely at the end of the day.
- Customer Service: Greeting and serving customers with a friendly smile.
- Stock: Processing, sorting, and pricing donations.
- Visual Display: Creating attractive window and shop floor displays.
- Team Support: Supporting our fantastic team of volunteers.
- Management Support: Reporting directly to the Shop Manager on daily updates.
Physical Requirements of the Role
- Moving Stock: Daily lifting, carrying, and unpacking of heavy bags and boxes of donations.
- On Your Feet: Standing for long periods to serve customers/stock shelves/process donations.

What We Are Looking For
- Previous experience working or volunteering in a charity shop is preferred but not essential.
- A reliable team player with great communication skills is essential.
- Flexibility to cover extra hours for holiday, sickness, or special events.
DBS check is required for this role
