Role Overview

We’re looking for an experienced, motivated and commercially focused Shop Manager to take ownership of the day-to-day performance of our Greggs franchise shop.

As Shop Manager, you’ll be responsible for leading your team, driving operational standards and delivering strong commercial results. You’ll set the tone for the shop, hold yourself and your team accountable, and ensure that every customer receives fast, friendly and consistently high-quality service.

This is a hands-on management role where you’ll lead from the front, develop your people and make sure standards are not only achieved, but maintained every day.

What You’ll Be Doing

No two days will be the same. You’ll have full responsibility for driving the performance and standards of the shop, including:

  • Lead, manage and motivate the team to deliver excellent customer service, operational performance and commercial results.
  • Set clear expectations and hold colleagues accountable for their performance, behaviour and standards.
  • Drive a high-performance culture, recognising great performance while addressing underperformance quickly and effectively.
  • Lead by example, demonstrating the standards, behaviours and customer service you expect from your team.
  • Take ownership of shop standards, ensuring cleanliness, presentation, food quality, availability and customer service are consistently maintained.
  • Proactively monitor performance and take action to improve sales, service and operational results.
  • Manage labour effectively, ensuring the shop is appropriately staffed while maintaining control of labour costs and productivity.
  • Take responsibility for waste, stock management and stock availability, identifying trends and putting corrective actions in place.
  • Recruit, onboard, train and develop colleagues, ensuring new and existing team members have the skills and confidence to perform at their best.
  • Conduct regular coaching, feedback and performance conversations, supporting colleagues to achieve their potential.
  • Build a strong, engaged team where everyone understands their role and takes pride in their contribution.
  • Maintain full compliance with food safety, health & safety, company procedures and audit requirements.
  • Take ownership of internal and external audit performance, ensuring actions are completed and standards are consistently maintained.
  • Regularly review the shop, identify areas for improvement and drive continuous improvement rather than waiting for issues to arise.
  • Ensure the shop is always clean, well-stocked, organised and welcoming.
  • Roll up your sleeves and get involved in food preparation, serving customers and all areas of shop operation when required.
  • Deal confidently with customer feedback and complaints, resolving issues professionally while protecting the reputation and standards of the business.
  • Communicate effectively with your team and senior management, providing clear updates on performance, opportunities and challenges.
  • Ensure every shift is well planned, organised and set up for success.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
