About The Role
We are seeking a skilled Shopify Developer to join our client's dynamic team in Plymouth. This role is ideal for a front-end focused developer who is passionate about creating engaging, high-performance e-commerce platforms. You will be responsible for developing bespoke features, optimizing user experiences, and integrating third-party systems within a large-scale online retail environment. As a key contributor to the technical team, you will have the opportunity to influence the development process, introduce innovative solutions, and help shape the future of the company's digital commerce capabilities.
This position offers a unique chance to work on complex projects, including building custom landing pages, enhancing site functionality, and ensuring platform performance aligns with business objectives. Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a combination of technical expertise and practical experience, including:
- Proven commercial experience in modern web development, particularly within e-commerce platforms
- Hands-on experience working with Shopify and Shopify Liquid templating language
- Strong proficiency in JavaScript, HTML, and CSS
- Experience developing and customizing templates within e-commerce environments
- Familiarity with React and TypeScript is advantageous
- Understanding of APIs, system integrations, and external service connectivity
- Experience using Git and modern development workflows such as CI/CD
- Knowledge of build tooling, package management, and version control systems
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks effectively, and meet deadlines
- Experience working in fast-paced digital or retail environments is preferred
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for a range of technical tasks, including:
- Developing bespoke front-end functionality and reusable components to enhance the e-commerce platform
- Building engaging landing pages, customer journeys, and interactive site features to improve user experience
- Integrating third-party systems, APIs, and external services seamlessly into the platform
- Optimizing platform performance, usability, and maintainability to ensure a smooth shopping experience
- Supporting platform releases, marketing campaigns, and ongoing feature enhancements
- Collaborating closely with internal design and commercial teams to align technical solutions with business goals
- Contributing to the development of coding standards, tooling, and workflows to improve team efficiency
- Providing technical input to help shape the future direction of the company's engineering initiatives
