About your role

The purpose of this position is: Lead the shopper understanding agenda to enable brands and categories to win at the point of purchase by translating behavioural insight into commercial implications that influence channel planning, activation, customer conversations, and brand execution.

What You'll Do

  • Lead the development and execution of the shopper learning agenda across GB&I, understanding shopper missions, mindsets, triggers, and barriers across all channels and formats.
  • Design, commission, and deliver shopper research programmes including quantitative, qualitative, loyalty data, missions analysis, and digital shelf insights.
  • Manage research partners ensuring robust methodology, high-quality fieldwork, and compelling storytelling.
  • Leverage retailer loyalty datasets, EPOS, panel, and digital behaviour data to generate actionable shopper insights.
  • Develop and maintain shopper journey frameworks across physical stores, eCommerce, and quick commerce to identify opportunity gaps and bottlenecks.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Channel Strategy & Planning, Category Development, Brand teams, and Shopper Marketing to embed shopper insight into commercial and activation plans.
  • Provide shopper understanding that drives customer propositions and identifies white-space opportunities rooted in shopper behaviours.
  • Deliver clear and compelling insight stories to senior stakeholders and embed shopper insight into business rhythms.
  • Uplift organisational capability in shopper behaviour understanding through frameworks, training, and tools.
  • Integrating diverse data sources (loyalty, EPOS, missions, qualitative and quantitative research) into a coherent and actionable narrative.
  • Balancing long-term structural shopper insight work with rapid in-year commercial needs and decision-making.
  • Translating complex behavioural insights into clear, actionable commercial guidance.
  • Managing ambiguity and variation across multiple channels, shopper segments, and customer environments.
  • Ensuring alignment and clear role boundaries with Consumer Insight teams to avoid duplication.

What You need to be successful

Essential

  • Experience in shopper insight, category insight, or retailer/loyalty analytics within FMCG.
  • Strong skills in turning complex shopper data into simple, actionable stories.
  • Experience with loyalty data, missions studies, and shopper research methodologies.
  • Confident in qualitative and quantitative insight commissioning and interpretation.
  • Skilled communicator with ability to influence cross-functional teams.
  • Highly analytical with strong commercial understanding and behavioural curiosity.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver high-quality outputs.

Desirable

  • Familiarity with retail environments across multiple channels.
  • Experience in shopper marketing or category management roles.
  • Knowledge of advanced shopper research methods such as eye tracking or mobile in-store surveys.
