Edinburgh | Permanent | Full-time

Joshua Robert Recruitment is working with a well-established property management business to appoint an experienced Centre Operations Manager to oversee the operational performance of a high-profile retail and leisure destination in Edinburgh.

This is a key onsite position combining facilities management, operational leadership, contractor management and occupier engagement. You will play a central role in ensuring the centre is safe, compliant, well maintained and provides a consistently high standard of service to both occupiers and visitors.

Working closely with the property management team, retailers, leisure operators, contractors and other stakeholders, you will be responsible for the smooth and effective running of the centre on a day-to-day basis.

Key Responsibilities

Your responsibilities will span the full range of centre operations, including:

  • Taking ownership of the daily operational management of the centre
  • Developing strong working relationships with retailers, leisure operators and other occupiers
  • Coordinating hard and soft FM provision across the site
  • Managing key service partners covering maintenance, cleaning, security and specialist services
  • Reviewing contractor performance, ensuring SLAs and KPIs are consistently achieved
  • Coordinating planned, preventative and reactive maintenance activity
  • Ensuring the property meets all relevant health, safety, fire and statutory compliance requirements
  • Supporting capital works, landlord projects, refurbishments and tenant fit-outs
  • Taking the lead on operational incidents, emergencies and associated response procedures
  • Assisting with service charge management, expenditure monitoring and operational budgets
  • Providing clear management information and regular reporting on operational performance
  • Carrying out regular inspections and ensuring presentation and service standards are maintained
  • Identifying areas where operational processes, efficiency and customer experience can be improved
  • Acting as a trusted onsite representative for the landlord and property management team

What We're Looking For

This opportunity would suit an experienced facilities, property or operations professional who is comfortable taking ownership of a busy, high-profile site and managing a broad range of stakeholders.

Previous experience within retail, shopping centres, leisure, mixed-use property or another complex public-facing environment would be highly beneficial.

You'll be able to demonstrate:

  • Experience overseeing hard and soft facilities management
  • Strong knowledge of contractor and supplier management
  • The ability to manage and influence a diverse occupier and stakeholder base
  • A good understanding of statutory compliance, health & safety and fire safety
  • Experience managing competing operational demands within a busy environment
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A proactive approach, with the confidence to identify issues and drive solutions
  • Good commercial awareness and an understanding of operational budgets and service charges

Professional qualifications such as NEBOSH, IOSH or IWFM would be welcomed, although they are not a prerequisite for the role.
