Shore End Project Engineer - Greenwich, London
We are looking for a Shore End Project Engineer to join our dedicated Marine Operations team and support the installation of submarine telecommunications cables and shore-end activities worldwide.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced project engineer to work across international marine projects, supporting installation solutions, subcontractor management, technical reviews, and project delivery.
The Role
As Shore End Project Engineer, you will support the development and delivery of shore-end installation activities, working closely with internal teams, clients, subcontractors, and site representatives.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Building cost packs for in-house shore-end projects, liaising with potential subcontractors to obtain quotations and technical resource proposals.
- Supporting the expansion and implementation of in-house shore-end installation and shallow-water burial solutions.
- Working with Purchasing and Project teams to support procurement and project delivery.
- Assisting with the allocation and management of resources for site works, using internal resources, external agencies, and subcontractors.
- Providing back-office support to Shore End Engineers on site, including cost escalation monitoring and invoice validation.
- Technically evaluating subcontractor Method of Procedures, Plans of Work, Dive Plans, Health & Safety and Emergency Response Plans, ensuring alignment with company requirements and lessons learned.
- Providing technical and project management support to Project and After Sales teams.
- Supporting Site Representative briefings, management of change requests, and incident reporting.
- Conducting technical audits of subcontractors and service suppliers, remotely and occasionally on site.
- Reviewing final Shore End Installation Reports submitted by subcontractors.
- Assisting with cable landing point site surveys, assessing site suitability, identifying cost-effective installation solutions, and investigating local resources and compliance.
- Supporting the implementation of in-house shore-end installation and shallow-water burial solutions.
- Potentially working as a Shore End Site Representative on international projects.

Responsibilities & Autonomy
You will play a key role in driving cost-effective and technically compliant shore-end installations by:
- Sourcing and evaluating subcontractor quotations.
- Supporting resource allocation.
- Tracking project costs and cost escalation.
- Validating technical documentation and invoices.
- Supporting project teams and site operations.
- Conducting audits and technical reviews.
- Ensuring subcontractor activities comply with company standards and requirements.
The role will involve managing day-to-day procurement, cost tracking, and subcontractor evaluations within established frameworks, with strategic decisions, significant budget overruns, and high-risk technical issues escalated to management.

Education & Experience
We are looking for candidates with:
- A degree in Engineering – Civil, Offshore, Mechanical, Construction Management, or a related discipline – or equivalent experience.
- Ideally 5+ years' experience in installation, preferably in a project engineering or project management role.
- Experience within the submarine cable, offshore, or marine industry would be highly advantageous.
- Experience building project cost packs and tracking cost to completion.
- Strong computer skills, particularly Microsoft Office/Windows.
- Experience with engineering drawing packages such as AutoCAD or Visio is advantageous.
- Excellent communication skills and a strong commitment to collaborative working.
