Build Short Form into a Business Line for FlightStory's IP and Creators
FlightStory is the media company behind The Diary of a CEO, Hot Smart Rich, Begin Again with Davina McCall and We Need to Talk with Paul C. Brunson. Short form is where we test ideas, prove audiences and develop the IP the wider slate is built from. We're looking for a Director to run it across our new IP and the creators we sign: what we make, what it earns, the system that produces it, and the team and platform relationships behind it.
What You'll Own
- The Plan and the Number. Set the strategy and business plan for short form across our IP and signed creator roster, and bring audience and commercial evidence into the room where the slate gets decided.
- Brand Worlds People Recognize. Make every show and creator instantly ours in vertical, even without a logo, with formats and characters audiences follow on purpose.
- Formats That Become IP. Spot the ideas with potential, prototype fast, build the evidence, and take the strongest to production or market.
- Revenue. Lead platform monetisation and build a direct revenue line from ad-funded, sponsored, sold and licensed formats.
- The System. Own the production line from brief to publish, with AI and tooling built in, a launch playbook for every new creator, and testing at the heart of everything.
- The Relationships. Hold senior relationships at TikTok, Meta and YouTube, so we hear about new features and get support ahead of the market.
- Our Creator Partners. Own onboarding for every new creator, manage the relationships with their teams, and give them one clear view of growth and revenue.
- The Team. Lead, develop and coach a team of 7 to 8 that could grow significantly. Be hands-on for your first 6 to 12 months, then build the management layer beneath you and lead through others, developing people deliberately and promoting from within.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

You'll Love This If
- You've built short-form brands and formats people recognise and return to
- You've carried a revenue number in social and know how platform monetisation works at scale
- You've made content that sells: sponsorship, ad-funded formats, licensing
- You see a brand partner as a creative opportunity, and bring it into your brand world with even more care than editorial
- You've worked across multiple brands and know how to operate at scale
- You'd rather build the model that works ten times than the viral post that worked once
- You back your taste, then let the data settle it
- You have a clear way of prioritising, and a first-principles view on where short form is going in the creator age
- You hire people who raise the standard, and take pride in growing them
- You want to own a P&L and a plan, with the latitude that comes with it
