Capital Valley Recycling is a locally owned provider of aggregates, muckaway services, and commercial groundwork across South Wales. Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site Shovel Driver role based in Rhymney. The Shovel Driver will operate loading shovels and similar plant machinery to move aggregates and recyclable materials safely and efficiently around the site. Daily tasks include loading trucks, organizing material stockpiles, following site layouts and instructions from supervisors, and performing basic equipment checks. The role involves working closely with colleagues to support muckaway and groundwork operations, adhering to health and safety procedures, and maintaining a clean and orderly work area. The position may require flexible hours to meet operational needs and occasional support with related yard or plant duties.

  • Ability to operate trucks safely and efficiently, with proven Truck Driving experience.
  • Valid CDL Class A (or equivalent local heavy vehicle license) and familiarity with commercial Truck operations.
  • Strong Communication skills to coordinate with supervisors, dispatchers, and site team members.
  • Customer Service mindset when interacting with clients, drivers, and visitors on site.
  • Experience operating loading shovels or similar plant machinery in an industrial, recycling, or construction environment.
  • Commitment to health and safety standards, including proper use of PPE and adherence to site procedures.
  • Ability to perform basic equipment inspections and report defects promptly.
  • Reliability in attendance, readiness to work outdoors in varying weather, and ability to handle physically active tasks.
  • Any relevant plant or HGV certifications and previous work in aggregates, muckaway, or groundwork sectors are an advantage.
