Job Description

Are you an experienced Class 1 Driver looking for a stable role with a great shift pattern and excellent earning potential? We are looking for professional and safety-focused Shunter Drivers to join our team.

You will play a key role in ensuring the smooth running of our operation by safely moving trailers around the yard, positioning vehicles on loading bays, carrying out inter-depot movements, and supporting operational efficiency at all times.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Safely shunting trailers between designated areas on site.
  • Carrying out inter-depot trailer movements as required.
  • Positioning trailers on loading and unloading bays in line with operational requirements.
  • Maintaining communication with operational teams using two-way radios.
  • Completing daily vehicle and trailer safety checks.
  • Reporting any defects, damage, accidents, or incidents promptly.
  • Ensuring refrigerated trailers are set to the correct temperatures.
  • Monitoring fridge diesel levels and ensuring adequate fuel is maintained.
  • Working professionally and collaboratively with colleagues across the site.
  • Reporting breaches of site speed limits by drivers or subcontractors.
  • Maintaining organised parking areas and reporting any site housekeeping issues.
  • Ensuring high standards of hygiene and housekeeping are maintained.
  • Working safely and adhering to all company policies and Health & Safety legislation.

Available Shifts

Night Shift

  • Salary: £39,072.88 per annum
  • Shift Pattern: 4 on, 4 off
  • Hours: 18:00 - 06:00

Day Shift

  • Salary: £34,347.47 per annum
  • Shift Pattern: 4 on, 4 off
  • Hours: 06:00 - 18:00

Qualifications

  • A Full C+E entitlement
  • Previous shunting experience
  • Experience of working in a very fast paced environment
  • Written and verbal communication
  • Ability to work to challenging deadlines in a pressurised environment
  • Self disciplined and motivated
