Job Opportunity

We are looking for a capable, reliable, and safety-conscious Shunter Driver to join our Yard team. This is a vital role that helps keep our transport and warehouse operations running efficiently by ensuring trailers and vehicles are moved safely and positioned correctly to meet operational demands.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely manoeuvre and park vehicles and trailers within the yard.
  • Position trailers at loading bays to support inbound and outbound operations.
  • Carry out daily vehicle and trailer safety checks, reporting defects in line with Vehicle Off Road (VOR) procedures.
  • Complete trailer movements safely and efficiently according to the daily operational plan.
  • Couple and uncouple trailers safely when required.
  • Maintain accurate records of trailer and vehicle movements.
  • Communicate effectively with the Yard Team, Packhouse Transport Desk, and Dispatch colleagues.
  • Support other yard activities when required, including Gatehouse, Banksman, or Forklift duties (where trained).
  • Keep the yard clean, organised, and safe.
  • Follow all company Health & Safety, Food Safety, Hygiene, and site procedures at all times.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who is dependable, proactive, and enjoys working as part of a busy team.

You'll ideally have:

  • A valid Shunter Licence with relevant experience.
  • Previous experience in a yard, warehouse, transport, or logistics environment.
  • A strong understanding of health and safety procedures.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Confidence working in a physically active role involving manual handling.
  • A flexible approach and the ability to work under pressure during busy periods.
  • The ability to use handheld scanning equipment or a willingness to learn.
  • Pride in your work, attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering high standards.
  • A positive attitude, strong teamwork skills, and respect for colleagues.
  • A customer-focused approach with the ability to build positive working relationships across departments.

Previous experience in a packhouse, warehouse, manufacturing, or food production environment is beneficial but not essential, as full training will be provided.

Working Hours

  • 45 hours per week across 5 days.
  • Shift pattern scheduled between 07:00 and midnight.
  • Flexibility is essential to meet business needs.
