Here at GXO Logistics, we are looking for a Shunter to join our team in Hams Hall, Birmingham at our Nestle Purina site.
This is a full-time, permanent role. You will be working on a rota basis, any 5 days out of 7, including weekends, 06:00 – 14:00 and 14:00 – 22:00.

What you will do on a typical day:
- Safely manoeuvre trailers between loading bays, parking areas, and designated yard locations, ensuring adherence to site safety procedures.
- Conduct pre-movement vehicle and trailer checks, reporting defects promptly and ensuring equipment is safe to use.
- Position and secure trailers correctly on loading bays to support efficient loading, unloading, and dispatch operations.
- Maintain accurate records of trailer movements and communicate effectively with warehouse, transport, and management teams regarding operational requirements.
- Monitor and organise the yard, ensuring trailers, vehicles, and equipment are parked safely to maximise space utilisation and efficiency.
- Comply with all site traffic management plans, GXO and Nestlé Purina policies, and legal health and safety requirements while supporting transport operations as needed.

What you need to succeed at GXO:
- Previous experience operating articulated vehicles or shunting trailers within a logistics, transport, or distribution environment
- Full UK driving licence with category C+E entitlement
- Less than six points on your licence (as well as no DR, DG, DD, BA, CD, AC, LC or TT99 endorsements within the previous 5 years)
- Good understanding of vehicle checks and defect reporting, excellent communications skills and attention to detail, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
