Role Description

The Sign Maker will produce and install a variety of signage and exhibition materials, including internal and external signs, vinyl graphics, panels, and displays. Day-to-day tasks include:

  • Reading and interpreting design specifications
  • Operating relevant machinery and tools
  • Preparing materials for printing, cutting, and assembly
  • Accurate measuring, layout, and finishing work
  • Loading, transporting, and installing signage on client sites while following safety procedures

The role involves:

  • Collaborating with designers, project managers, and other production staff to meet deadlines and quality standards
  • Helping maintain a tidy, safe workshop environment

This is a full-time, on-site role based in Blackburn.

Qualifications

  • Experience in sign making, fabrication, or a similar hands-on production role, including use of hand tools and workshop equipment
  • Ability to read and interpret design drawings and measurements, with strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Familiarity with vinyl application, graphics installation, and basic finishing techniques for signs and displays
  • Comfort working on ladders, platforms, and at client sites, with a strong focus on health and safety practices
  • Basic computer skills; experience with design or layout software (e.g., Adobe Illustrator, CorelDRAW) is an advantage
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to installation locations when required
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills, with the ability to follow instructions and manage time effectively
  • Previous experience in signage, exhibitions, print, or a related industry is beneficial; relevant vocational training or apprenticeship is a plus
