Financial Reporting Accountant
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Financial Reporting Accountant to join a leading and growing life insurance business. This role sits within the Financial Reporting team and offers the opportunity to play a key role in the production of monthly management information, statutory and regulatory reporting, while working closely with Actuarial, Accounting and wider Finance teams. You'll have significant exposure to senior stakeholders, with the opportunity to provide meaningful financial insight, improve reporting processes and contribute to wider change initiatives across the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the production and commentary of the monthly management information (MI) pack, ensuring accuracy, data validation and consistency.
- Analyse financial performance and provide insight into the underlying business drivers.
- Translate complex accounting and actuarial information into clear, concise commentary for senior stakeholders.
- Lead planning for year-end verification of financial information included within the Annual Report.
- Review the quality and content of internal and external reporting, identifying opportunities for improvement.
- Plan and prepare the year-end reporting timetable, establishing clear deliverables, deadlines and review processes.
- Support statutory and regulatory reporting requirements across the business.
- Deliver ad-hoc reporting, change projects and other non-regular financial deliverables.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, controls and the quality of financial reporting outputs.
- Build strong relationships across Finance, Actuarial and the wider business to ensure effective planning and delivery.
- Support wider members of the Financial Reporting team as required.

Experience & Requirements

- Experience within the life insurance industry.
- Strong financial reporting experience, ideally within a reporting-focused position.
- Good knowledge of IFRS and Solvency II.
- Sound technical understanding of life and pensions accounting.
- Experience preparing the front half of Annual Reports.
- Experience with Oracle Fusion and Oracle FCCS.
- Experience with the SmartView Excel add-in.
- Experience with Workiva.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify solutions to complex issues.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and deliver against tight deadlines.
- Strong judgement and the ability to prioritise competing demands.
- Excellent communication and influencing skills.
- Comfortable driving change and contributing to projects and wider business initiatives.
