Simpler Recycling Project Officer
Simpler Recycling will transform how Mansfield residents use waste and recycling services. We are seeking a proactive Project Officer to turn new legislative requirements into practical, well-managed service improvements, including changes to recycling collections, the introduction of food waste collections and resident education campaigns.
About The Role
Reporting to the Waste Services and Fleet Manager, you will lead assigned projects from planning through to completion and manage a team of four officers. You will develop project and communication plans, monitor progress, maintain clear documentation and coordinate colleagues and partner organisations to secure the right expertise and resources.
You will ensure delivery meets legislative, health and safety, financial and Council requirements. The role also includes supporting procurement, contracts and agreements; chairing project meetings; preparing reports for different audiences; monitoring performance; and applying lessons learned to improve future delivery. You will promote digital working, value for money and high-quality customer service throughout.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
