About The Role
You will be a team member responsible for the maintenance and support of a range of Full Flight Simulators and lower-level training devices. (FSTD’s). Act as a point of contact to the user/customer community for both technical and logistics issues. Undertake all duties as a member of the maintenance team providing a turnkey service. Perform any tasks related to maintaining the simulator qualification standard.

The role’s key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Conducting scheduled preventative and corrective maintenance.
- Troubleshooting and resolving electrical, software, and hardware faults to minimize downtime.
- Installing software and hardware updates, including executing and documenting all required post‑update testing.
- Maintaining accurate maintenance, defect and configuration records
- Supporting annual simulator re‑certification activities and recurrent testing
- Preparing systems for training operations, including pre‑flight checks and readiness assessments.
- Managing tooling and spare parts inventory.
- Coordinating outsourced repairs to ensure continuous operational capability.
- Mentoring less‑experienced team members to support capability development within the engineering team.
- Operating (“flying”) simulators for system tests, customer demonstrations, and approved evaluation sessions.
- Providing comprehensive advice and assistance across all aspects of simulator maintenance to ensure maximum training availability.
- Liaising with simulator OEMs and pilot SMEs to support technical investigations and resolve outstanding issues.
- Working closely with in‑house engineering, and test teams to progress defect investigations and contribute to product improvements.
- Implementing and validating software changes, including building and testing new software loads.
- Delivering safety briefings to new instructors to ensure safe and effective use of the training environment.
- Engaging regularly with customers, Training Services leadership teams, and industry regulators to support operations and uphold compliance standards

Skills & Competencies
- Strong technical understanding of electrical, mechanical, and computer systems.
- Ability to read technical drawings, schematics, and engineering documentation.
- Proficiency in diagnostic troubleshooting and root‑cause analysis.
- Familiarity with aircraft systems, avionics concepts, and flight controls.
- Comfortable working in a highly regulated environment with strong emphasis on safety and precision.
- Effective communication skills for interaction with pilots, instructors, and engineering teams.
- Ability to work shifts in a 24/7 training operation.
Education / Qualifications
- Educated to a minimum BTEC/HTEC, HND/HNC level or equivalent relevant qualification
- Minimum of 5 years’ aviation industry or equivalent experience
What else could be helpful to be successful in this role:
- Flight or aircraft maintenance experience (or equivalent technical industries)
- Previous FSTD experience (or equivalent automation industries)
- Customer service experience
- A good standard of IT skills
