SIPP Administration Leader
Role: SIPP Administration Leader – Interim
Rate: Competitive (subject to experience & interview competencies)
Type: Contract (via umbrella payroll company – Inside IR35)
Location: Bristol, BS1
Hours: 35 hours a week (full-time), Monday to Friday
Hartley Pensions is looking for an experienced SIPP administration specialist to help lead our SIPP administration team during an important transitional phase for the business.
We are offering a highly rewarding opportunity for an experienced SIPP professional seeking a leadership position to assist with the oversight a team of friendly and experienced professionals dedicated to providing an exceptional service to our clients.
About Hartley Pensions
Hartley Pensions are a SIPP and SSAS pensions operator based in central Bristol. Since July 2022, the company has been in a trading administration. Under the administration of UHY Hacker Young, Hartley Pensions continues to operate an essential service to clients whilst preparing to transfer members to new UK-based operators and wind down the business.
Role
As our Interim – SIPP Administration Leader, you will work within a dedicated team of professionals in overseeing the day-to-day administration of our members’ SIPP accounts.
Key Duties
- Manage and mentor a team of experienced and entry-level pension administrators.
- Administer and oversee end-to-end benefit requests, including calculating income drawdowns and applying current legislative limits such as the Lump Sum Allowance (LSA).
- Deliver detailed breakdowns of crystallised vs uncrystallised fund splits.
- Obtain accurate investment valuations and update the system with current market values.
- Manage and process ad-hoc payment requests for clients and IFAs.
- Work closely with Finance and Payroll teams to prepare accurate information on gross amounts requested and payment frequencies.
- Collaborate with Hartley’s Transfers Out department to verify drawdown statuses and ensure sufficient liquidity before authorizing the transfer of SIPP assets to new providers.
- Train and facilitate the upskilling of junior staff.

About You
- Extensive experience in SIPP administration.
- Comprehensive understanding of up-to-date pension laws and tax regulations.
- Demonstrable experience with GDPR regulations and security protocols.
- Proficient in using bespoke SIPP/SSAS administration platforms and core Microsoft tools.
- Numerical proficiency and competent standard of literacy.
- Decent level of communication skills to effectively communicate technical pension information.
Qualifications
- Certificate in Pensions Administration (CPA)
- Retirement Provision Certificate (RPC)
- Advanced Diploma in Retirement Provision (ADRP)
- Level 4 Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning
- Award in Financial Administration (RQF Level 3)
- Degree with a minimum of a 2-1 or above (in any subject)
