About the Role

We are seeking an experienced, motivated and flexible Band 6 Sister/Charge Nurse to join our busy Oncology Outpatients team. The successful candidate will provide clinical leadership and support the delivery of safe, high-quality patient care across Main Outpatients, Proton Beam centre, Department 35 and Department 1 when required.

Responsibilities

The role involves managing a varied workload including patient admissions, clinical assessments, wound and line dressings, injections, symptom management and other outpatient treatments and procedures. You will be confident in recognising and responding to deteriorating patients, managing emergency situations and escalating concerns promptly and appropriately.

We are looking for someone who is adaptable, resilient and able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will support day-to-day service delivery, contribute to safe staffing and patient flow, and be willing to work across departments to meet service needs.

You will be committed to maintaining high standards of patient care, promoting a positive team culture and embracing service developments and change.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

This is an exciting opportunity for a proactive and patient-focused nurse who thrives in a dynamic oncology setting.

If you were to be successful, you would be supporting a team of healthcare assistants within the local phlebotomy areas, outpatient clinics as well as having hands on experience dealing with poorly patients.

You will be provided with full support and work closely with our other band 6s and will be expected to cover each other’s leave.
