Sister/Charge Nurse

The Princess Grace Hospital, London

Full time: 37.5 hours per week

Shift times: Monday to Sunday, including long days, nights and weekends (8:00am to 8:30pm and 8:00pm to 8:30am)

Permanent Contract

Salary: Competitive + 9% Shift Allowance


We are seeking an experienced and motivated Charge Nurse to join our dynamic Medical Ward team at The Princess Grace Hospital.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced nursing leader to join a fast-paced acute medical environment. You will combine excellent clinical expertise with strong leadership skills, supporting the day-to-day management of the ward while ensuring the highest standards of patient care, safety, and service excellence.

As a Charge Nurse, you will provide clinical leadership to the ward, acting as an expert practitioner and role model for the wider nursing team. You will support the day-to-day operational management of the ward, lead shifts, coordinate patient care, and work closely with the multidisciplinary team to ensure the highest standards of safety, quality, and patient experience.

The successful candidate will have excellent clinical and decision-making skills, alongside proven leadership experience. You will play a key role in service improvement, staff development, workforce planning, quality assurance, and clinical governance, helping to ensure the ward continues to deliver outstanding patient-centred care.

What you'll bring:

  • Registered Nurse (NMC) with current registration.
  • Previous experience as a Senior Staff Nurse, Charge Nurse, Junior Sister/Charge Nurse or equivalent leadership role.
  • Proven ability to lead shifts, coordinate patient care, and support the day-to-day running of a busy ward.
  • Strong clinical assessment, decision-making, and prioritization skills within an acute environment.
  • Experience providing clinical leadership, guidance, and support to multidisciplinary teams.
  • Experience supporting, developing, and motivating nursing teams to deliver high-quality patient-centred care.
  • Knowledge of clinical governance, quality improvement, and audit processes.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with patients, relatives, and colleagues.
  • Commitment to delivering safe, high-quality, patient-centred care.
