We are looking for a motivated and ambitious Site Agent to join our team, supporting the delivery of the Mossy Hill Substation project as part of the SSEN framework. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in the delivery of a major infrastructure scheme while developing your leadership, technical and project delivery skills within the growing energy sector.
Working closely with the wider project team, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management and coordination of site activities, ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards of quality. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to a significant infrastructure project in Shetland while building a long-term career within the energy market.
Role Responsibilities
- Manage and coordinate day-to-day site operations to ensure works are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with programme requirements.
- Support the successful delivery of the Mossy Hill Substation project, ensuring quality, cost, and timescale objectives are achieved.
- Lead and supervise subcontractors, operatives, and suppliers working on site.
- Ensure all activities are conducted in accordance with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards.
- Monitor project progress and proactively identify and resolve technical and operational challenges.
- Coordinate labour, materials, plant, and equipment to support efficient delivery of works.
- Maintain accurate site records, reports, and project documentation.
- Work collaboratively with project teams, stakeholders, and supply chain partners to ensure successful project outcomes.
- Assist in short-term planning and sequencing of works to maximise productivity and minimise disruption.
- Drive continuous improvement and promote best practice across all site activities.
- Support the delivery of key civil engineering and substation construction activities, ensuring works are completed to specification and quality requirements.

Skills, Experience And Qualifications
- Experience in a Site Agent role or a similar site management position within the construction, civil engineering, utilities, or infrastructure sectors.
- Civil engineering background with experience delivering infrastructure projects.
- Experience within substation, cable, or utility projects is essential.
- Knowledge of substation construction activities, including cable installation, cable trenching, cable jointing, steelwork, cladding, setting out, and substation fit out works.
- HND, Degree Apprenticeship, or equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline.
- Strong leadership and people management skills with the ability to coordinate site teams and subcontractors effectively.
- Excellent organisational and planning abilities.
- Effective communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Initiative-taking approach to problem-solving and decision-making.
- Good understanding of health, safety, environmental, and quality requirements within a construction environment.
- Ability to manage multiple activities while maintaining exacting standards of safety, quality, and performance.
- Commitment to delivering successful project outcomes and supporting the continued growth of the energy sector.

About The Energy Business Unit
We have extensive experience in upgrading and replacing energy networks, delivering asset management for major UK energy companies and network operators.
Our transmission and distribution services involve the upgrading and replacement of electricity assets both above and below ground. Within the electricity sector we install and maintain assets, including excavation, laying, and jointing of cables, (fluid filled and XLPe), substations and overhead line, new build, repair, and refurbishment services.
