About The Role
We are currently recruiting for a Site Assistant to join a well-established educational setting in Gloucester.
This is an excellent opportunity for a practical and reliable individual to play a key role in maintaining a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors. Working as part of the site team, you will support the day-to-day operation of the school's facilities, ensuring buildings and grounds are maintained to a high standard and that maintenance tasks are completed efficiently.
This role would suit candidates with experience as a Site Assistant, Caretaker, Facilities Assistant, Maintenance Assistant, Handyman, or in a similar position.
Key Responsibilities
- Assisting with the maintenance and upkeep of school buildings and grounds
- Unlocking and securing school buildings as required
- Responding to maintenance requests and carrying out basic repairs
- Setting up furniture and equipment for assemblies, meetings, and school events
- Undertaking manual handling duties, including moving parcels, furniture, and equipment
- Supporting health and safety compliance across the site
- Using hand and power tools safely and effectively
- Assisting with energy efficiency initiatives and site improvement projects
- Building positive working relationships with staff and site users

Skills & Requirements
- Previous experience in a Site Assistant, Caretaker, Facilities Assistant, Maintenance Assistant, Handyman, or similar role
- Practical maintenance and DIY skills
- Basic knowledge of health and safety requirements
- Ability to undertake manual handling tasks
- Good communication and organizational skills
- Reliable, flexible, and proactive approach to work
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Willingness to undertake training and professional development
