Site Construction Manager - Bishop Auckland (Contract)

We are partnering with our client to appoint an experienced Site Construction Manager to lead the delivery of a major gas infrastructure project in Bishop Auckland. This is a hands-on, site-based role (5 days per week, 8-10 hours per day) where you will be at the heart of our client's operations, driving safety, quality, programme and commercial performance on a flagship scheme valued at over £40m.

Key Skills & Experience

  • Construction management: Proven ability to plan, lead and control daily site activities on large, complex projects.
  • Gas infrastructure: Background in gas transmission/distribution or wider energy infrastructure, ideally including National Grid Gas or major UK gas network operators.
  • Contractor management: Experience coordinating multiple subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring performance and compliance.
  • Construction safety management: Strong command of site safety, HSEQ standards and regulatory compliance on live/brownfield sites.
  • CDM Regulations 2015 & Health and Safety at Work Act: Practical application of legal duties in planning and executing construction work.
  • Permit-to-work, risk assessments & method statements: Competent in controlling high-risk activities through robust processes and documentation.
  • Quality & environmental management: Maintaining quality management systems and environmental compliance throughout project delivery.
  • Stakeholder management & commercial awareness: Engaging project stakeholders and supporting contract administration and change management.
  • Leadership & communication: Leading multidisciplinary teams and fostering a strong safety and performance culture within our client's team.

Contract Details

  • 12-month contract
  • Outside IR35
  • £500 per day
  • Ideally live within approximately one hour of Bishop Auckland
