Site Director

Location: Bradford

Role Overview

The Site Director has senior accountability for all elements of manufacturing operations, engineering, maintenance, and projects at the Agrichemicals Manufacturing Plant while also contributing to governance and strategic direction for the wider Chemicals Division.

The Site Director is also the leader of the Agrichemicals Manufacturing Plant site Senior Leadership Team and as such is fully accountable for the safe, efficient, and effective operation of all assets in line with legislative requirements, local procedures, the limits defined within the safe operating envelope of the plant, internal quality systems, and the approved sales plan.

As the senior line leader for the majority of employees at Agrichemicals Manufacturing Plant, the Site Director must also motivate, coach, and develop team members at all levels to deliver a positive values-based culture that drives high performance across the business.

Responsibilities

  • In partnership with senior colleagues, contribute to the strategic vision for the division then translate this strategy into actionable plans for manufacturing, engineering, maintenance, and projects at site
  • Identify and assess all operational risks associated with personal safety, process safety, protection of company assets, and company reputation and implement risk mitigation strategies and plans to manage all risks effectively
  • Govern and lead all aspects of day-to-day manufacturing, engineering, and maintenance, making best use of available resources, people, and technology to support business goals
  • Establish, monitor, and report on key performance indicators through the organization and up to executive level to drive and steer operational safety, efficiency, and performance
  • Establish and govern rigorous quality assurance processes to ensure products and services meet and exceed customer expectations
  • Lead, coach, and mentor line reports to play their part in delivering a high-performance culture to be proud of built on px ELITE values
  • Lead the design and implementation of transformation programmes for manufacturing, engineering, and maintenance operations to drive productivity and improve cost base
  • Lead the design and implementation of transformation programmes for projects to drive productivity, delivery, and cost effectiveness
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders, HR, and employee union representatives to lead individuals and groups within manufacturing operations, engineering, and maintenance through periods of significant change and maintain strong industrial relations (IR)
  • Work closely with line leaders and HR to develop and implement processes and systems that ensure individuals within manufacturing operations, engineering, and maintenance are competent and confident in their roles and responsibilities
  • Develop and execute the Annual Operating Plan (AOP) / budget for manufacturing operations, engineering, and maintenance
  • Negotiate and manage healthy relationships with external partners (including the client, legislative authorities, suppliers, and customers) to strengthen company reputation and meet legal and financial obligations

  • Degree qualified in a science or engineering discipline, or equivalent
  • Extensive experience of senior leadership in a fast-paced, highly complex unionised industrial environment
  • Experience of leading transformation change and building a values-driven culture to be proud of
  • Ability to influence and negotiate effectively with internal and external individuals and groups at all levels
  • Able to solve complex problems and challenges
  • Able to make sound decisions considering complex criteria and factors
  • Experience using basic financial information to set priorities and direction and achieve budgets
  • Experience developing strategies for specific business challenges
  • Completed the required company induction into this role
