About Nordscale
Nordscale is the specialist operator for mission-critical AI data centres. We manage the operations that keep AI compute sites running reliably, efficiently, and safely. Founded as a strategic partnership between the AI hyperscaler Nscale and Norwegian energy company Nordkraft, we harness local expertise and data centre operations experience to deliver service excellence to our customers, while building skilled local jobs and partnering with Norwegian businesses to create lasting value in the regions where we work.
Our culture combines local Northern Norwegian values, international expertise, and disciplined operational excellence. We’re a team built on trust, ownership, and collaboration: we communicate openly, take accountability for outcomes, and work as one team across sites, partners, and functions to deliver performance people can depend on.
About The Role (Job Purpose)
We are seeking an exceptional Site Director to lead Nscale’s AI Gigafactory campus in Narvik, currently comprising two buildings for a total of 100Mw with future expansions in construction. As the most senior leader on site, you will have overall responsibility for the performance, culture, operational effectiveness and continued development of one of the world’s most significant AI infrastructure environments.
The Site Director will provide leadership across the entire campus, with the Facility Director reporting directly into the role. You will ensure that operational, technical and business teams operate as one organisation, with clear priorities, strong accountability and a relentless focus on safe and reliable delivery.
This is broader than a traditional data centre leadership position. You will act as the senior representative of the business in Narvik, creating an environment in which teams can perform at their best while balancing the requirements of our customer, employees, partners and the wider organisation.
Operating in an environment of exceptional scale, complexity and pace, you will need to be comfortable leading through significant growth and continuous change. You will have the judgement and authority to make important decisions quickly while balancing operational risk, commercial priorities and long-term business objectives.
The role would suit an established data centre leader or a highly accomplished senior executive from another complex corporate, infrastructure, technology, industrial or mission-critical environment.
What You’ll Be Doing (Responsibilities)
- Provide overall leadership and accountability for the Narvik AI Gigafactory, setting the direction, priorities and operating culture for the campus.
- Own the site’s annual operating budget of approximately 200MNOK p.a., ensuring disciplined financial management, effective cost control and appropriate allocation of resources while maintaining the safety, reliability and performance of the campus. Lead budget planning, forecasting and performance reviews, working closely with Finance and functional leaders to manage expenditure and identify opportunities for operational and commercial efficiency.
- Lead the Facility Director and site-based corporate functions, creating strong alignment between critical facilities operations and the wider business.
- Ensure the campus operates safely, reliably and effectively, maintaining appropriate oversight of operational performance, risk, compliance and business continuity.
- Build a high-performance site culture based on accountability, collaboration, resilience and continuous improvement, developing a strong leadership team capable of operating at significant scale.
- Act as the senior site representative for our customer, partners and key stakeholders, building trusted relationships and ensuring commitments are understood and delivered.
- Lead the organisation through rapid growth and change, ensuring new capacity, teams and operating models are successfully integrated as the AI Gigafactory develops.
- Line management of the Community Engagement Manager and support them to carry out their duties in the community.
- Provide executive oversight of significant site issues and incidents, ensuring decisions are made quickly, risks are appropriately balanced and clear leadership is maintained during high-pressure situations.
- Partner with executive and central leadership on strategy, workforce planning, investment and organisational development, ensuring Narvik’s priorities remain aligned with the wider business.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
