Where will you be working?
We help our clients safeguard the water supply, improve environmental performance and manage demand for future generations. We enhance and extend asset life, ensuring compliance with water quality and environmental standards. We’re problem solvers with over 140 years of combined experience in engineering and infrastructure.
This role will be within our Water and wastewater capital project delivery team. Our teams deliver large-scale capital programmes aimed at keeping water infrastructure resilient for the long-term while protecting the environment.

What will you be doing?
As a Site Engineer, you'll bring strong technical expertise in setting out and surveying for clean water trunk main projects, with the ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and technical documentation accurately. You'll have experience coordinating a range of installation activities including trenching, pipe laying, thrust boring, directional drilling, valve installations, washouts, air valves, and associated civil engineering works.
We'll need you to be confident managing construction activities on site, ensuring all works are delivered in line with design requirements, project specifications, and Thames Water standards. With excellent problem-solving skills, you'll work collaboratively with design teams and project management to resolve engineering challenges and support key activities such as commissioning, pressure testing, chlorination, sampling, and network integration.
A keen eye for quality is essential, with the ability to maintain accurate site records, inspection and test plans (ITPs), quality documentation, and as-built information. You'll be experienced in carrying out material inspections, managing non-conformances, and implementing corrective actions to ensure the highest standards are achieved.

Most importantly, you'll champion a strong health, safety, and environmental culture. You'll have a thorough understanding of CDM Regulations, Water Industry standards, RAMS, and site-specific risk assessments, using this knowledge to ensure compliance, conduct inspections and audits, deliver toolbox talks, and minimise environmental impacts on customers, watercourses, and local communities.
What You’ll Bring
Do you hold a HNC/HND or Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline?
Have you got previous experience delivering water infrastructure projects. Preferably clean water trunk mains?
Do you have knowledge of water industry standards and utility construction practices?
Have you got experience with setting out equipment, surveying techniques, and interpretation of engineering drawings?
Do you have an understanding of pressure testing, chlorination, and commissioning processes?
Have you got a full clean driving licence?
Do you hold a CSCS Card, SMSTS or SSSTS?
Do you have a EUSR Water Hygiene Card?
Have you got the following accreditations (these are desirable):
- First Aid at Work
- NRSWA Supervisor
- Temporary Works Co-Ordinator
