Site Engineer

Location: Abingdon, Oxfordshire
Duration: Estimated 2-3 Months
Hours: 45 hours per week (9 hours per day)

The Opportunity

Our client is currently delivering enabling works on a major infrastructure project in Oxfordshire. The project involves ecological and environmental surveys, trial holes, trial trenching, and archaeological investigations as part of a large-scale reservoir development.

Due to ongoing project requirements, our client is seeking an experienced Site Engineer to support site operations and ensure works are delivered safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out setting out and surveying activities.
  • Raise, manage, and administer permits to dig.
  • Ensure all excavation permits are approved prior to works commencing.
  • Maintain accurate site diaries and daily progress records.
  • Monitor compliance with health, safety, and environmental requirements.
  • Liaise with engineering, support, and construction teams.
  • Identify and escalate site issues, delays, and safety concerns.
  • Work in line with company procedures and project requirements at all times.

  • Understanding of engineering principles.
  • Technical knowledge of construction techniques and industry best practices.
  • Valid CSCS Card.
  • Relevant vocational training or qualification.
  • Thames Water Passport.
  • Skillsguard certification.

The successful candidate will have previous experience working in a site engineering role within the construction, civil engineering, utility, or infrastructure sectors. You will be confident working on active project sites, maintaining high standards of safety and quality while supporting successful project delivery.
